Here is a really simple but cute version of homemade cupcake picks.
The great thing about being able to make it yourself is that you could customize the colour and shape on the pick to suit the occasion you are celebrating. It also won’t cost a lot to make as many as you need especially if you already have a craft punch on hand.
Here’s how to make your own cupcake picks. You will need the following materials:
Cardstock paper in your choice of colour or pattern
Craft punch in the shape you like (I used heart and balloon punches for my project)
Adhesive (craft glue, double sided tape, or glue tape runner)
This is how to make it:
Using your craft punch, cut out the shapes from your chosen cardstock colours. If you don’t have a craft punch, you may either cut out your own shapes using scissors or order some pre-punched die cuts like these ones from The PaperHappy’s Etsy shop.
You will need to have twice as many shapes as the picks you need, because you will use two for each pick.
Apply adhesive on one of the shapes. I used my ATG just because it is my go-to adhesive for most projects, but you may also use regular craft glue or double-sided tape.
Put a toothpick in place at the lower half of your shape, then with another identical shape, make a “sandwich”, with the toothpick in the middle.
Ta-daa! You just made your very own cupcake pick! How easy was that?
This simple, inexpensive project makes a lovely addition to the table decor for any celebration.
With very little effort and expense, we can use the crafting talents God has given us to work within our means and bring more beauty to our lives.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
